Take the (Retirement) Road Less Traveled.

At every turn, your financial plan should reflect the life you’ve built and the one you’re still creating.

Retirement conversations are typically marked with both excitement and concern:

"Did I save enough money?"

"Will my finances last?"

"Can I afford to travel?"

40%

of older Americans said they’re delaying retirement due to inflation.

The right plan can bring freedom, adventure, and fulfillment—without the constant financial worry.

Turn your concerns into financial confidence.

Our Approach:

A solid retirement strategy will mitigate the 3 primary financial concerns:

Longevity

(longer lifespans)

Ensuring your income will last the entire length of your and/or your partner’s lifetime

Inflation

(eroded purchasing power)

Preparing for rising costs in all areas of the economy

Market Volatility

(unpredictable changes)

Building a diversified portfolio tailed to your needs

You might find that your current financial advisor has placed you in a pre-set model based on your risk tolerance, age, or retirement timeline. At Retirement Road, we prefer creating a customized approach – uniquely designed with your personalized goals in mind.

The Advanced Time Segmentation® (ATS): Our Strategy

Time segmentation is designed to cover retirement expenses while allowing other investments to grow without the risk of selling during a downturn. This turns the conversation away from “When will I run out of money?” to “How can I grow my assets while living off my retirement funds?”

The Five Vehicles

Each vehicle is a metaphor to a bucket of money established with a specific purpose in mind.

Lifetime Income

Much like a sedan, this bucket is designed to provide contractually guaranteed lifetime income for both you and your partner. It’s not flashy, but stable, consistent, and entirely reliable for your lifetime.

Fixed Income (Income Now)

Like a compact SUV, this bucket is designed to supplement your other household income for the first leg (7 years) of your journey.

Balanced (Income Later)

Stability is key for this vehicle. Much like a full-size SUV, this bucket will provide dependable growth during the first leg (7 years) of your retirement road, and provide inflation adjusted income for the second leg of your trip (8-15 years).

Long-term Growth

Like a luxury sports car, this bucket is designed to “rev” your portfolio with some speed in the market. Since your other vehicles (buckets) are providing you the income you need, this vehicle is able to grow your portfolio with the need for withdrawals.

Alternatives

Durability is key for this bucket. Like a pickup truck, this bucket is versatile. Not only is it designed to provide durable income, but it will also generate consistent growth of your portfolio. This tactical vehicle will act as a hedge in your portfolio – not correlated to the others.

Using these 5 vehicles and their targeted objectives, the Advanced Time Segmentation® strategy is built to help you:

  • Create Lifetime Income you cannot outlive
  • Manage risk through diversification and time
  • Combat inflation with appreciation of assets and inflation-adjusted income

Some vehicles are designed for flexible income, some are designed for market stability, and the rest are designed for pure growth.

“[ATS] enables a personalized approach. By aligning investments with the time horizon, it also reduces the likelihood of having to liquidate assets in a down market, which helps to manage sequence risk in retirement….it lays the foundation to support more efficient retirement outcomes with greater wealth balances.”
